Construction of Two Residential Buildings on Zähringer/Wittelsbacher Straße

The new development on Wittelsbacher- and Zähringerstraße in Berlin Wilmersdorf transformed the surrounding area into a vibrant residential neighborhood. The underground garage ceiling of the new buildings was designed to cover about one-third as a walkable open space with lush roof greenery and inviting terrace areas, providing residents with a green retreat.

In the courtyards between the existing building and the new constructions, practical access routes and bicycle parking spaces were created, along with diverse play areas that also invite residents to linger. A high-quality garden area with flowering plants and shade-providing trees offers a relaxing space for residents.

Underground tanks for rainwater storage were installed to support the project's sustainability. Rainwater from the roofs is channeled via an innovative retention roof into the sewer system, while water from the courtyards mostly seeps into the active soil layer.

The pathways are paved with granite cobblestones, and in the center, there is a gently sloping lawn area framed by colorful planting. The play areas feature vibrant walls and a small wooden climbing structure, offering various movement opportunities for children. Cozy seating areas with benches invite residents to relax, while paved bicycle parking spaces at the edges provide practical mobility.

The two courtyards are connected by a footpath, creating a harmonious and lively residential environment that meets the needs of the residents.
