Parish Church Weißensee

The redesigned outdoor facilities of the Weißensee Parish Church create a clear and inviting structure within the densely built urban space. Through targeted adjustments, the open space has been significantly enhanced both functionally and aesthetically.

A small sunken garden with a limestone edging, mosaic paving, and perennial planting now serves as a peaceful retreat at the entrance to Berliner Allee. The new above-ground rainwater storage tank at the Katharinensaal is used for garden irrigation. The planting has been deliberately densified, especially along the southern and western boundaries of the property. The sand play area and the wooden pergola south of the tool shed have been retained, while a new seating area with a wooden bench in the southeast adds to the comfort of the space. Along the west side, a low balancing course and a large double swing made of wood enliven the play area. The bicycle parking facilities have been significantly expanded: along the eastern boundary of the property, 20 parking spaces with stainless steel loops were created, along with three spacious areas for cargo bikes, complemented by an additional eight spaces east of the Katharinensaal. An existing horse chestnut tree received a generous wooden tree platform, inviting visitors to linger.

The entire redesign is characterized by a clear structure, functional additions, and a harmonious integration into the existing environment.
