Playground Plönzeile

The redesign of the playground in the Oberschöneweide district is a project in which children and adolescents were actively involved. Through a participation event in collaboration with Outreach gGmbH, the young people could express their wishes and were also involved in the implementation. This playground serves as an important space for recreation and communication for the neighboring residential areas, especially for children, families, and adolescents, but also on a regional level. During the planning process, various facilities were created for different age groups, including a meeting point with a pavilion, seating areas, table tennis tables, a trampoline, a renovated climbing rock, and a streetball court. The design considers the promotion of motor skills, coordination, sensory abilities, and social behavior. A variety of play areas with natural materials such as sand, stones, bark, wood, and plants are integrated to stimulate the senses. Special emphasis was placed on accessibility. Overall, the playground is now a naturalistic, diverse space that has been further tailored to the needs of its users through active participation.
