The neighborhood square is located in the heart of a residential area in Moabit-Ost and is an important meeting place for people of different ages. The aim was to qualify the southern square area as an attractive place for young people.

The planning process was based on youth participation in collaboration with the Moabit-Ost neighborhood management, the Children and Youth Office, Gangway e. V., and the district office. The young people´s wishes formulated during the participation process formed the essential starting point for the planning.

The requests for more seating, a hammock, and a covered chill-out corner were implemented on the square area along the promenade. A legal graffiti space was also integrated.
The existing street football area could be preserved in good condition and incorporated into the redesign. A new fence spatially separates football and streetball and enables parallel use of the sports offerings.
The new parkour facility activates the previously little-used area behind the street football court. This creates not only an additional movement offer but also greater social safety on the square.

Barrier-free elements are naturally integrated into the design. Handrails on seating podiums facilitate their use; color-coded, slightly raised markings serve as a visually and tactilely perceivable wayfinding system.

The characteristic tree stock was preserved in full and supplemented with three new trees and shrub plantings. The reuse of existing pavement also follows the principle of resource-conscious handling of the stock.

The result is a robust and versatile youth space that combines movement, staying, and greenery. The redesign translates the concrete needs of the youths into the open space.
